Kashmir University will Host G20 Events in 2023

New Delhi: The University of Kashmir has been selected to be one of 15 academic institutions across India to conduct the esteemed Youth-20 activities under India's Presidency of the Group of Twenty in 2023.

Mushirul Haq, the vice chancellor at the time, was abducted and murdered in 1990 when terrorism in the Valley was at its worst. Some faculty members at Kashmir University converted the university into a "madrasa" during the initial ten years of insurgency.

Manoj Sinha, the lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, has however urged educational institutions to actively participate in the G20 summit that would be hosted in the Union Territory.

Speaking in the Raj Bhavan to the University of Jammu's University Council at its 87th meeting, Sinha declared, "We are moving forward with a fresh commitment in the field of education.

We have high hopes for the Higher Education Council to create a plan that will revive Jammu-former Kashmir's educational splendour and use knowledge to accelerate its expansion and development.

According to an official statement, Lt. Governor Sinha requested that reputable educational institutions and universities step forward to enable the smooth operation of the G20 event in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Y20(Youth-20) Summit, according to the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for young people to contribute productive policy inputs and use the opportunity to share their thoughts with a global audience.

In the eight months leading up to the final Youth-20 Summit, there will be pre-summits on each of the five Y20 (Youth 20) themes, as well as numerous talks and conferences at universities across India, according to the Sports Ministry.
