Tripura University PhD Admission Process 2023: Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for the Indian and International students is different as detailed below;

For Indian Candidates

• Candidates must have a relevant PG degree with 55% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA of 7 from a recognized University.
• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC can have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in relevant PG or equivalent provided with a relaxation of 5% marks from a recognized University.
• Candidates must have scored 55% marks in aggregate and the relaxation is only applied for the qualifying marks without including any grace marks.
• Any professional degree recognized by UGC/ AICTE is also eligible.

For International Candidates

• Candidates must have a relevant PG degree with a project work course of four credits and course of research methodology with four credits with an aggregate of 55% marks.
• Candidates must have a degree that is equivalent to M.Phil. in an Indian Institution but this equivalent certification has to be obtained from a Foreign Educational Authority only.
• Even if the candidate is holding a degree without these courses, they are eligible to apply.

Tripura University PhD Admission Process 2023: Selection Criteria

Research Eligibility Test (RET) is conducted by the university for the admission of all the students. Candidates who qualify with 50% marks are further selected to attend a Viva-voce examination and are selected on the basis of overall performance.

• Candidates with a valid score in UGC/ CSIR NET/ SLET/ SET/ GATE exam are exempted from attending the written test of RET.
• The students willing to take up a PhD program in Tripura University must apply online. Each applicant can apply for a maximum of three courses.
