New Delhi: Osmania University will start providing postgraduate physical or life science courses for physicians, engineers, and pharmacists from the next academic year. Regardless of the disciplines they have studied as undergraduates, the students will be allowed to enrol in professional science courses.
At present, students must hold an undergraduate degree in physical or life sciences to pursue MSc courses at the university. Osmania University officials have agreed to waive this rule by enabling engineering, MBBS, and pharmacy graduates to enrol for MSc programmes, they just need to pass the Common Post Graduate Admission Exam (CPGET).
OU Vice Chancellor Prof. D Ravinder stated on April 10, 2023, "We have decided to accept MBBS, pharmacy and engineering graduates for M.Sc. admissions starting from the 2023–24 academic year.
The classroom mix would alter as a result of the diverse educational backgrounds of the students. "This programme will not only enhance the college admissions, but it will also make it possible for professionals to do postgraduate research in their chosen fields. Students who have taken any undergraduate course at the university can now apply for postgraduate admissions in commerce "he added.
Additionally, he stated that the university has no plans to add any new undergraduate or graduate courses in the upcoming academic year.
