New Delhi: IIT Madras has introduced an online GATE preparation portal to assist aspirants in association with Amadeus Labs, through the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL).
With the assistance of Amadeus Labs Bengaluru's CSR programme, the portal, known as the NPTEL GATE Portal, is freely accessible to all students. Candidates aspiring to prepare for GATE can access the NPTEL-IIT Madras GATE preparation portal by visiting the official website @gate.nptel.ac.in.
The NPTEL-IIT Madras GATE preparation portal will include video solutions, practice exams, and online help in accordance with the GATE syllabus.
The video solutions have been designed as self-contained that will serve as a rapid review of the fundamental problem-solving concepts, detailed solutions using basic concepts. Candidates must first choose the relevant "type" and "year" by clicking on "video solutions" on the top menu before seeing the pre-recorded video solutions.
Similarly, the candidates can click on the "live mentoring sessions" home page from the top menu. After selecting the necessary department, candidates will get a list of those registered for the upcoming live sessions.
Congratulating the NPTEL on creating the integrated platform during the launch ceremony, Professor V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras said that the GATE examination examines the knowledge in Basics acquired by a candidate during undergraduate courses education.
Speaking about the inception of the idea, NPTEL Coordinator, IIT Madras Dr Ramkrishna Pasumarthy, said that on the NPTEL course discussion forums, many learners would ask whether the course content would be sufficient to ace the GATE exam.
The learners would also request to solve GATE-related problems or provide some assistance in preparing for GATE. The institute then came up with the idea of creating a comprehensive one-stop platform, covering everything from concepts to tricks for cracking the GATE exam.
GATE is an entrance exam for taking admissions for master's or PhD in IITs or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and other such educational institutions across India. Many public sector organisations (PSUs) also recruit applicants based on the GATE scores. About 9 to 10 lakh aspirants are expected to take the GATE exams next year.
According to a statement from IIT Madras, this GATE online coaching portal will make the preparation journey easier for the aspirants. NPTEL will provide more than 2,400 courses with video solutions, practice tests, and online assistance in line with the GATE syllabus.
