New Delhi: IIT Bombay has released a new syllabus and exam structure for Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED). The changes in the exam structure will be effective from the 2024 session onwards.
Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design or UCEED is an undergraduate entrance test for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) program at top IITs in India, such as IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur.
As per IIT Bombay, the UCEED entrance examination will include two sections; Part A and Part B. The first part will be held in computer-based mode, while the questions for PART B will be displayed on the screen, and candidates will fill the answers in the given answer booklet.
Informing about the UCEED Exam Pattern, IIT Bombay stated that part A will further be divided into three subsections; NAT, MSQs, and MCQs. The exam will test the creativity, critical thinking, and inquisitive disposition of candidates, the official notice reads.
The UCEED Syllabus will include questions from Analytical and logical reasoning, Environment and society, Observation and design sensitivity, Practical and scientific knowledge, Visualization and spatial reasoning, and language domains.

As per the official notification released, the Part B section of UCEED Syllabus (effective from 2024) will only include two questions; one from Drawing and one from the Design aptitude domain.
Candidates will be given a duration of 60 minutes to answer the given questions. The section may include questions on drawing products, people, or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.
Additionally, the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design, UCEED will test the design ability of students by adding questions about practically and appropriately responding to problems/situations with ingenuity and empathy.
