Pondicherry University is the central university widespread over Union Territories of Puducherry, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. It was established in 1985. It offers various under-graduate and post graduate courses. It also provides distance education programmes. There are three campuses of the university.

Pondicherry University M.Sc. Admission Criteria
Following are the eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled by candidates as per the course they are applying for:-
- M.Sc. Astrophysics- Minimum 55% aggregate marks in B.Sc. Physics/ Electronics/Mathematics/Applied Physics. Candidates who have passed B.Tech in Electronics/ ECE/Electrical/Optics/EEE/Engineering physics/Applied Physics/Mechanical/Instrumentation/ Computer Science and secured at least 55%.
- M.Sc. Applied Geology- Students should have Bachelor's degree in geology as the main subject and any two out of the following – Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology as ancillary subjects and secured minimum 55%
- M.Sc. Applied Psychology- Candidate must have done B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Psychology or a bachelor degree in any stream with psychology as a subject. Minimum percentage requirement is 55%
- M.Sc. Biochemistry and molecular Biology- Minimum 55% aggregate marks in bachelor's degree in Biochemistry/B.Sc. (M.L.T.)/Chemistry/Botany/Zoology/Biotechnology/Microbiology or any other branch of Life Sciences
- M.Sc. Bioinformatics- Minimum 55% marks in bachelor's degree in physics/chemistry/computer science
- M.Sc. Biotechnology- candidate must have completed bachelor's degree in Agriculture/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Botany/Microbiology/Veterinary science/Zoology and secured 55% marks
- M.Sc. Chemical Sciences- minimum 55% marks in B.Sc. Chemistry
- M.Sc. Disaster Management- Student should have done Bachelor's degree in Science / B.A. Geography / B.E. Civil Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering and secured at least 55% marks
- M.Sc. Ecology and Environment Sciences- Minimum 55% marks in under-graduation
- M.Sc. Electronic Media- those who have bachelor's degree in Electronic Media / Journalism / Visual Communication / Visual Arts / Performing Arts / Sciences are eligible. Candidates who have done graduation in any stream with one year diploma in computer applications can also apply. Minimum percentage requirement is 55%
- M.Sc. Food Science and Technology- candidate must have done B.Sc./B.Tech in Agriculture / Agricultural Engineering / Home Science / Food Technology / Food Science and Nutrition / Food Science and Quality Control / Clinical Nutrition / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology
- M.Sc. Food and Nutrition- students should have passed B.Sc. in food and Nutrition / Food Technology / Food Science and Quality Control / Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics or Composite / General Home Science / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Agriculture dairy or fisheries and secured at least 55% aggregate marks
- M.Sc. Mathematics- Â minimum 55% marks in B.sc. mathematics
- M.Sc. Microbiology- students must have bachelor's degree in microbiology/biotechnology/botany/biochemistry/zoology. Those who have done graduation any other stream can also apply provided they have scored minimum 55% marks in qualifying exam
- M.Sc. Physics- minimum 55% marks in B.Sc. physics
- M.Sc. Quantitative Finance- Minimum 55% marks in B.Sc. (Maths), B.Sc. (Statistics), B.Com. (with Mathematics), B.A. (Eco) (With Mathematics), Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology), Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications / Information Technology
- M.Sc. Statistics- minimum 55% marks in B.sc. statistics or mathematics with statistic as allied subject
Pondicherry University M.Sc. Admission Process
Registration process for all courses starts from April 28, 2015. Last date of filling application form is May 15, 2015. Application form fee is INR 250 for general category candidates and INR 150 for SC/ST. It is INR 1000 for NRI and overseas students. It can be paid online or offline.

- Read the prospectus before filling up the application form
- Upload scanned photograph and signature
- After filling all the details correctly, click on submit
- Application fee can be paid by debit card/credit card/net banking
- It can also be done by making cash payment through challan at Indian bank counters
- Candidates need to download the admit card from website
