Delhi University to Offer Certificate Courses to Non-DU Students from January 2023


New Delhi: Delhi University is planning to launch a scheme under which it will offer various certificate courses to students of other universities and educational institutes. The courses will be offered to interested and eligible students from the academic session of 2023. 

As per Delhi University, the academic council of the university will discuss the implementation and other details of the scheme titled Competence Enhancement Scheme with council members on Wednesday, August 03, 2022. 

Informing about the scheme, the officials informed that the “Competence Enhancement Scheme” will be launched to offer students from different colleges and educational institutes the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and understanding in various streams. 

The selection of applicants for certificate courses under Delhi University Admission will be done on the basis of the merit list released by the admission cell. The admission merit list will be prepared based on marks secured in the qualifying examination. 

Candidates who wish to apply for Delhi University Certificate Courses 2022 can submit their applications for a maximum of two courses and eight credit subjects in a semester. Applicants who do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be selected for admission. 

The agenda mentioned that “One must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest and enthusiasm for the courses proposed to study. The candidate must have the time and commitment needed to study the course along with the students studying in regular mode".

As per the agenda, the maximum number of seats available for each course under the stream will be 10% of the total stream of the class. Registration of participants for specific courses will only be valid for a semester only. 

“Teaching or instructions shall be provided in the same mode and medium as that of regular students and evaluation pattern for these candidates shall be identical to that of regular students,” the agenda further read.

Delhi University Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh stated that the university is planning to introduce courses for non-DU students from January 2023. These courses will help students who wish to learn skills but do not want to get a full-time degree. 

“Some students want to pursue just a few subjects and do not want a degree. We are planning to start course-based registration for citizens and they can come and take classes with students of the varsity,” he added.
