Forensic Experts also stated that it takes months to identify the forgery of the documents.
As in the case of former DUSU President Ankit Basoya, whose fake admission document was discovered only after he filled the nomination form for the union elections.
Basoya’s admission in University’s department of Buddhist studies and President nomination were cancelled after B.A degree from Thiruvalluvar University was found fake.
Yet, it took many days to verify and cancel the admission.
Associate Professor of Chemistry at SGTB Khalsa College, GS Sodhi agreed that the chances of document forgery are higher this year and many colleges are not willing to check the documents as they have a huge class workload in this academic year.
Sodhi has been checking the forensic value of documents for many colleges in the past few years.
Sunil Singh, Admission in charge of Kirori Mal College for two years commented that “Verification of documents takes months and it discourages many people”.
He also pointed out that last year Kirori Mal College identified and asked 22 students having fake documents from West Bengal Education Board to prove the genuineness of the documents.

- All the documents submitted are subjected to scrutiny, that means if your document will be found fake then you will be asked to prove the authenticity of the documents or else your admission will be cancelled.
- Sobha Bagai, dean of admission assured that DU will soon hold a meeting with the colleges regarding document verification.
- She also added that documents from CBSE can be checked online, so there is no need to worry about that. However, documents from the state education board will be checked strictly.
- They will also keep an eye on the certificates uploaded by the sports or extracurricular candidates.
- They are going to hire an external body for the verification of the documents so that forgery of documents will be avoided.
GS Sodhi suggested that DU should establish a mechanism that can help to identify the fonts, emblems and location of the words that appear doubtful in the document.
Papers that appear doubtful will be kept for scrutiny.
