Mr. Kumar Satyajit is the Chief Administrative Officer at Lakshya Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. He is a well-disciplined Indian Air force professional with educational qualifications in the field of Mechanical Engineering. He is a qualified Management (HR) Professional with 25 years of experience in the field of Administration, Human Resource Management, Integrated Material Management, etc. At LIT, he is responsible for the overall administration of the College and acts as a point of contact for all employees, students and Parents. As an Admin officer, he is involved in the overall financial management of college (Students fee payments, vendor payment, loan repayment, salary, advertisement and marketing expenditure, etc).

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“A desire to help build the future capital of the nation”

I belong to the Defence background with a Mechanical engineering background. However, to be a part of the future generation, I joined the education sector to put my efforts and creating an overall positive environment. I have always believed in sincerity and being punctual about your work. I try to imbibe the same with the students and all the staff in this organization. 

What is your philosophy of leadership?

“The act of following a specific process or strategy to help achieve the goal”

I do not believe in keeping knowledge to myself. I feel every insight and knowledge should be shared with everyone so that ultimately, the college or the country would be benefitted and the organization can grow. I also believe in following the proper ethics while working. My leadership style believes in following a particular process or strategy in a sincere manner to help achieve the outcome. 

How do you plan the marketing and administration of your school?

“Research the industry trends and implement strategies from own experience”

Before passing any work or assignment to my team members, I try to learn the strengths and weaknesses related to the job. This way the work can be optimized by assigning the right person for the job. I try to learn from all the stuff available in the market, but I also believe in applying my own thoughts and strategy gained from my personal experience to plan anything for the school.

What do you think your responsibilities to the College and the students are?

“To oversee the admissions process for students and to encourage them to enroll”

I take care of all the administrative work related to the college including Admissions, general administrative, etc. For the students, I ensure that the discipline is maintained by them and taking care of all the norms and rules of the college. It will help them in the future to become better human beings. On the administrative front, I take care of the admissions of the students and motivate the students to join the college and take care of the admission process by managing various people. 

What do you see as Lakshya Institute of Technology, Odisha’s greatest strengths?

"We work hard to develop skills to make students more employable in the future”

We are concentrating on the practical part of the training and subjects. Less than 50% of the graduates’ students, as per 2021 data, are not employable. That is the reason we focus on developing the skills so that they become more employable in the future. This can be achieved by focusing on practical knowledge as compared to theoretical knowledge.

What are some of the biggest challenges in the education sector?

“A need to identify the strengths of students at an early stage”

In the Indian scenario, the parents and the students are not able to identify the strengths of the students. Sometimes, the students’ choose a subject according to their peers and family pressure. This decreases the employability of the students in the future. As a result, the overall employment situation in the country is affected. We should focus on beating many developed countries such as China and the US by giving proper clarity and practical knowledge in education.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“If you use your time wisely, you can achieve your goals"

To all students, I strongly advise them to recognize their own strengths and follow their passion. As a result, the student will give 100% to the passion, so the best time of your life will be utilized properly. A college education should be used to follow your passion and gain knowledge that will serve you well.
