Zee College Of Pharmacy Director: Dr. P.K Jain Interview

Dr. P.K Jain is the Director of Zee College Of Pharmacy, Kanpur. He has completed B.Pharm, M.Pharm and Doctorate In Pharmacy from 1986-1998. His academic career as a professor started in 1999 and since then he has been associated with several prestigious academic institutions in the region. Under his guidance and leadership, more than 5000 students have completed their graduation in pharmacy and 50+ students have completed their post- graduation in pharmacy.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Ability to make strategies which improve the quality of education”

In my opinion it is the noblest of all the professions and I am lucky to be associated with this sector for the entirety of my professional career. In this industry, one of the most important jobs is to impart knowledge as well as to assist in making strategies that improve the quality of education. This is what provides me with the inspiration to stay connected to the education industry. Our task is to groom the future leaders of our country in a wide range of fields, which is very important for the growth of our nation. All these factors provide me a boost in staying connected to this sector. My other reason to become a teacher is to make a difference in the lives of as many students as I can. I draw satisfaction from my job when I see my students getting employed.

How do you plan the marketing and administration of your school?

“We are focussing mainly on quality academics”

In the event that our students become key figures in universities or industries, our brand will increase and we will rise to the top. As a result, we strive to offer our students the best academic quality, both in terms of theory and practice. To become a skilled professional, we must concentrate on developing the whole person.

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?

“Enabling Industry Institute tie-up”

One of our key plans in our curriculum is the Industry Institute tie-up. Students visit companies making packaging materials, raw materials, finished products, as well as pharmaceuticals and non-pharmaceutical companies, like Amul. Our institute has a dedicated cell that deals with the Industry-Institute tie-ups, whether they are clinically or industrially oriented. At the end of their stay at our college, students receive hands-on experience and are prepared to meet the latest industry standards.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Increase the intake to create more skilled pharmacy professionals”

As a pillar of our healthcare system, the pharmacy profession will explode within 10 -15 years. The budding pharmacists will play a very important role in the development of the nation. We plan on making our students skilled in this sector so that they can pursue various opportunities after graduating. Over the next 10 years, our institute plans to increase the intake of these students so that more skilled pharmacy professionals and healthcare individuals are created. 

How can you make your university more welcoming to students of different backgrounds?

“Institutional scholarships and government enabled finance schemes”

Diversity is a valuable component of our admission process because it allows students to learn about and appreciate different cultures. We offer an institutional scholarship for these students, apart from the Government-approved schemes for EWS. For students from lower-income backgrounds, we offer special programs. Regardless of caste, we welcome students of all ethnicities. Government reservation norms are strictly adhered to when structuring the intake. 

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Your goals will surely be attainable if you never lose hope”

As a pharmacist professional, I want to tell the students that there is nothing that can stop a person from becoming successful in life if they opt for a professional course. A pharmacist can become an entrepreneur who can give jobs to other unskilled individuals. A graduate student in any professional courses will not lag behind in any field. 

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

“Our college’s greatest strengths are the faculty and students”

We have an excellent team of faculty members who are dedicated to imparting the best possible knowledge to the students. And our students are talented individuals who are keen on grasping this knowledge. We strive for getting our students placed in the top pharma companies like GSK, Dr Reddy labs and more. Our administration and faculty focus on the holistic development of the students, both in academics and extracurricular activities.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

 Being the Director of Zee College of Pharmacy, I want to say to the upcoming students that our group is one of the best places to begin your journey to becoming a skilled professional. Our group has fair policies, nothing is hidden and we strictly adhere to our commitments. We do not charge any extra fees or fines in our institute. There are a number of opportunities for you in our group. We have a wide variety of courses and we focus on the 360-degree development of the students.
