Promoting a continuous learning environment for students and faculty to upskill their horizons of knowledge

Mr. Indrajit Chatterjee is the Principal at Inspiria Knowledge Campus. Alumni of IISWBM Kolkata, Indian Statistical Institute and IIM Indore, Prof. Chatterjee has 8 years’ experience in the industry, especially in the manufacturing and NBFC. He has taught at various business schools approved by university & AICTE. Bringing his vast experience to the institute, he wants to develop an ambient learning atmosphere for the students. What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

“My primary focus is to deliver quality education”

If we look at good quality delivery, we need a good quality team, faculty, and staff. If you look at our faculty members, we now have 42 members from all across India. The team has been developed, and we have improved every year on two major factors, academic results, and Industry readiness. We have grown from 100 to 1000 students. We have grown from 4 courses in 2015 to 12 courses in 2020. There has been a dramatic change in numbers. We are one of the finest undergraduate, non-engineering colleges in North Bengal.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your institute?

“We are moving towards digitization by making a step by step approach”

We are robust in terms of digital, from the day we started promoting through all social media outlets, one good example to justify this is that each student gets their official email id on the first day. We also have mandated every student to have a Linkedin account as well so that they can build their professional networks right away. We are so reliant on emails that we do not use notice boards, but we use official communication emails. We are very tech agile. The above factor, taken under consideration, proves that we are moving towards digitization.

How does the curriculum of Inspiria Knowledge Campus ensure the best practice of industry?

“We inculcate multiple factors to ensure our students are abreast to current industry standards”

There are two things that a college can do to have some impact on the development of their students. One is the syllabus, which is the academic part. The other is skill development. We have a significant focus on skill development. Since day one, we train our students on soft skills with the help of a psychologist. We conduct training sessions on resume writing. We train our students for competitive exams like CAT, MAT. We train students for the corporate entrance examinations as well along with preparing them for video resumes. The results are incredible.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the Institute and the students are?

“Our commitment towards developing the institute is a continuous process”

When it comes to my roles and responsibilities towards the institution, I am currently developing a second leadership level. Those who can take the responsibility of departments since the HOD position is a rotational position, I have been developing my lieutenants since I joined this college. My commitment to the students is to continuously improve our processes and ensure that the students are trained in the latest industry requirements. It's my responsibility to ensure that targeted skills are developed when it comes to each course we have on offer. My job is more towards facilitating these skill development programs.

“We have always been very technologically aware and agile. Our transition into online learning was incredibly seamless. We managed to adapt very quickly amid the pandemic. We also delivered the state of the art computers to teachers’ homes to help the students to teach.”

What do you think should be the Institutes’ top priority over the next 10 years?

“There is a continuous room for improvement in every vertical”

We are focused on improving our existing resources by training and upskilling them. At the same time, we keep acquiring quality faculty. We are investing a lot of our time on the upgradation of technology and the knowledge required to use it. Each week, we conduct a session to understand what new changes have been made. We also invest a lot into having the best technology for our students, whether it is the state of the art computers, super-fast wifi, and continuously updating our infrastructure to thrive.
