Bharat Technology

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“Growing, gaining knowledge and upskilling for the current trends connects me with the education sector”

My passion is teaching and research. I have been associated with the academic sector since the time of my Ph.D. As an educator, I don’t just like to teach students. On the other hand, I also have to keep upskilling, share daily experiences of specific topics and learn the current trends.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying in Bharat Technology?

“Research based education, club activities and several opportunities are available for pupils”

A successful global career dream inspires many Indian students to seek international education from the most reputed institutions in the world. Acquiring practical skills is vital to become a part of the global workforce. Our campus helps students to earn practical and research-based education related to global scenarios. Moreover, they get the opportunity to learn something new and implement it practically. Students can write literature reviews, publish papers etc. Various clubs and committees of our institution encourage students to build themselves properly. Some of these clubs include Creative & Innovative Activities Club, Community Activities Club, Literature and Writing Club, Environmental Club, Entrepreneurship Club and Blogging Committee.

How does the curriculum of Bharat Technology College ensure the best practice of industry?

“Guest Lectures, Internship opportunities, placements, advanced lab and more are accessible for pupils”

We set up an Industry Advisory Committee with an objective to establish a strong pharmaceutical industry. Our campus conducts workshops such as MDP, FDPs with collaboration with industry. We provide suggestions for process improvement as well as curriculum improvement. Industry Institute Relations and Entrepreneurship Development Cell is established in Bengaluru with an objective to build strong brand presence among the pharmaceutical industry or company. This cell is involved in grooming the entrepreneurship cell in the near future. Recently, the college has launched an Alumni Portal to connect with the alumni and utilize their services in the pharmaceutical industry. It helps students to get Guest Lectures, Internship opportunities, placements, etc. We encouraged students to pursue internships during the vacations and acquire necessary problem-solving skills. They get an advanced lab in collaboration with the pharmaceutical industry to execute latest projects. It enables students to experience the latest software and equipment.

Any insights into how your college could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

“Increase innovations, collaborations, social interactions, effective communication and process students skills”

Cultural diversity of campus enriches the educational experience. We provide a culturally diverse classroom of different departments such as Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, Biotechnology etc. Students have the opportunity to learn from people with different backgrounds or upbringings, leading to increased innovation and collaboration. Diversity on campus improves communication and thought processing skills of pupils. Students are presented with daily opportunities to interact with people of various backgrounds. It enables them to learn, communicate more effectively and see themselves in their leaders. They also get the chance to see and experience various leadership styles from faculty, staff, administrators, and community members. For many students, it’s a chance to see someone from a similar background that they can emulate. It is especially impactful for students from historically underrepresented communities. We employ within our campus communities, and ensure the demographics of representation. All these are compatible with our student body and our current students. Our students are involved in various clubs and committees in the college including Art, Crafts & Culture Club, Photography, Magazine Committee, Academic Activities Club, Sports committee, Anti-ragging committee, etc.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities are to Bharat Technology and students?

“To share knowledge, give real life examples and proper education for students”

My primary duty is to share knowledge, give education, and teach about life. We make sure that students understand what is being taught to them in the classroom or in online teaching. The choices of every student are different. Some students like studying while some students do not. It is my responsibility as a teacher to teach students in a way that they enjoy learning. We adopt a fun method of teaching to teach students instead of a lecture method. So, students understand real-life examples easily and quickly. As a teacher, teaching should connect various subjects to real-life situations and make topics understandable to them. I understand what my students need as they are the closest companions. I always appreciate and boost the confidence of students. With encouragement, a teacher can make students cross any barrier. Students get encouragement with words of appreciation such as ‘good job,’ ‘well done’, ‘come on,’ and ‘keep it up’. Right words at the right time can do wonders in a student's life.

What do you think should be the Bharat Technology top priority over the next 10 years?

“To enrich collaborations, raise research incentives and train scholars are our top priority in upcoming years”

We decided to start training scholars in management when they are young. Good scholars make the best leaders in universities, and they need to be trained early in their careers. Much management education is viewed as overly long-winded and not tailored to the needs of academics. Short, concise, relevant courses should be offered with necessary incentives to researchers throughout their careers. One of the top priorities of campus is the Incentivise raising research money and we want to raise more research money as the top list. For example, the department gets to keep an extra 10 per cent as per their previous contributions. We decide to increase collaboration with research organizations, industries, and reputed universities for various individual project works or collaborative research work.

When you first came to Bharat Technology, what was your vision for the college and how far along in implementing it?

“To provide a comfortable space for learning and make sure to improve students' knowledge through campus education”

I want what’s best for my students and provide an environment they can feel comfortable in learning. They need to understand that mistakes and gentle correction is an essential path to learn. I want the students to genuinely enjoy classes. They get a number of fun and innovative activities and remain curious about what is coming next. My vision is to make sure to improve students' knowledge through a quality education. Finally, I want to break down students’ image of what a teacher is. Most pupils think that the teacher is a square and serious person. However, by sharing a little of myself, I can break down this barrier. So, they can see me as a human just like them.

What do you like people to know about Bharat Technology they may not know?
