Being an HOD, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students in Kalka Institute of Research and Advanced Studies, New Delhi?

“To motivate students, impart quality education and a good environment to all”

As an HOD for Kalka Institute of Research and Advanced Studies, my main role is to guide, support and direct the management towards a path towards a greater goal. I constantly motivate and maintain the morale of the college team. Me and my team together work towards enabling the students of our institution to receive quality education. It helps them to learn Industry-ready skills in a positive, encouraging and effective manner. We also maintain an atmosphere that is open and safe for learning, an environment where students aren’t afraid to ask the right question. Our faculties can give their all towards teaching them.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty in Kalka Institute of Research and Advanced Studies, New Delhi?

“Maintain a positive relationship and engage learning opportunities for students”

Any classroom, our faculties that hold a responsibility towards teaching and the students who are eager to learn is a classroom which can thrive in its own right. I want to maintain a healthy atmosphere that gives engaging learning opportunities for everyone. It gets complete freedom to present and portray students' thoughts as well as opinions in front of the entire class. We want to maintain a positive atmosphere where they can grow and eventually enter the Industry ready for the world.

How do you strategize the curriculum and gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Equip the pupils with skills and knowledge as per industry standards”

We strategize our curriculum by keeping our goals or objectives in sight. Our main aim is to equip students with knowledge and skills that are helpful to them and be employable according to the current industry standard. To maintain a curriculum that is always up to date and fresh, we keep a track of the current employable and in-demand skills. We also take the ongoing job trends into consideration and make any course that we offer relevant for the student. So, there is continuous development and growth as the curriculum goes on. We try to maintain the original foundation that the course laid upon and try to improve upon it each year. Hence, subject matter doesn’t become irrelevant or stale, either for the students to learn or faculties to teach.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Organize various events, and programs for pupils on campus each year”

I believe that extracurricular activities play a vital role in the personality development of any individual. To that end, our college tries our best to organize events. We establish as many programs as possible to ensure that the students grow not only in academics but also in all-round activities.

What are the challenges you faced to uplift the quality of education of Kalka Institute of Research and Advanced Studies, New Delhi?

“To keep up with pace of learning progression, and commitment towards learning are great challenges”

One of the biggest challenges that our department is facing is to keep up with the pace of learning progression. As the years go, we have a lot more factors to consider when designing our curriculum for learning. Students themselves have become more diverse and complex. We strive to maintain an environment where the students continue to grow till they can. It can sometimes become a challenge to keep up with the growing demands. As we are committed towards our students, we want them to have the opportunity to get ahead in life. We also struggle sometimes to have the students replicate the same passion and commitment towards learning. But, we take all the measures possible to ensure each student is getting the education they want and deserve at our college.

How does the college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to the industry standards?

“Assist facilities to take professional courses and participate in training programs”

Our faculties keep up to date with Industry trends and current working environment. We also urge them to take professional courses from time to time, and keep them aware of the latest trends. Each faculty is required to participate in training programmes relevant to their courses and niches from time to time as well.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Keep your skills up to date, build your network and seek new opportunities” 

In my opinion, all students must grow their skills and knowledge to get an early start. They should keep their skills up-to-date while staying focused. It is important for them to find just the right balance with their personal lives whether it to be by pursuing their passion. Always build your network, actively seeking opportunities and finding companies they like on social media.
