Dr. Anbuchezian is currently serving as the Principal at Annapoorana Engineering College, Salem. He holds a rich experience of 25 years in the teaching field and has published over 45 papers in various International Journals and Conferences, and around 9 Books. Adding to his credit, he has been recognized with many prestigious awards like Best Educationist of the year, 2019 and Entrepreneurship Initiative Award. What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Academic and educational conduct for betterment”

My roles and responsibilities towards the students includes conduct of UG and PG courses according to the affiliating university guidelines. Monitoring admissions, conducting regular class works, organizing placement activities in coordination with Placement coordinator are my prime responsibilities. Also, I create an environment for industry institute interaction, coordinate R&D activities, counsel and maintain discipline to bring out the best among students and staff as well. 


How do you tend to establish healthy relations within college?

“Clear, communicative and responsive approaches”

As a Principal, I tend to establish healthy relations with the students by being respectful, supportive, trusting and treating them in a professional way. Being in touch with the students always is essential and tending to their requests makes them be positive in the long run and approach the faculty for any of their needs. With regard to fellow faculty. I encourage leadership, demonstrate growth and continual improvement, reward positively and constantly motivate. The faculty play a crucial role in the development of the student community. And I make sure all the faculty understand the evolving nature of the students and respond accordingly.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Multifold industrial practices and collaborations”

Practical orientation towards the subject is made through internships, inplant-trainings, industrial visits, inviting experts from institutes and all other activities being done to connect the student to the industry during the course of study. It is crucial that the student undergoes the implications of learning rather than it being a lecture. This means that the student is always updated with industry knowledge and is ready to move ahead after education. We also bring dignitaries from industries for guest lectures and signing MoUs with leading institutes/industrial houses and encouraging live industrial projects etc.

How do you strategize the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

“Regulation and instruction of best practices”

AEC meticulously plans and develops action plans for effective implementation of the curriculum prescribed by the Anna University, Chennai for students favour which is in line with the institution‘s vision to empower society through quality education. At the outset, an academic council consisting of Heads of various departments headed by Principal conducts a meeting to develop various strategies for effective implementation of the curriculum. Thereafter, the department Heads instructs their members of various departments to develop academic calendar, academic plans and time table for the upcoming academic year according to Anna University’s rules and regulations.


Any insights on the placements and higher education of the students at AEC?

“Bringing up all essential requirements at one place”

Since the companies today expect the graduates to be industry-ready, inculcating the basic skills such as writing, problem solving and critical thinking are also becoming the part of collegiate education. To help students with this, the college does student categorization for training and coaching in the third year related to placements and higher education through mock interviews and seminar presentations. The people are hired from outside bringing with them expertise by aggregating the requirements from the industry. The college signs Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for placement and training and tie ups with Academy and Institutes for coaching.


How do you help your student to cope up with the high competition outside?

“Enhancing personal growth and mental strength”

The students are provided the opportunity to interact with the outside world through Alumni association- the connection brings back flow of knowledge into the student base. This way our alumni are showing gratitude for the institute and helping the students become better and improving their community. We also encourage students to participate in other college events, showing them the picture of knowledge and development outside our walls and opening a new line of thinking to them. We also grant access to special certificate courses which is a unique value add to them. We not only generate competitive nature but also the skills through the conduct of sports/ cultural activities.
