What keeps you connected with the Education Sector?

“Satisfaction of making someone ready from our society for his or her profession is the key factor”

I have started my career in teaching profession through Anjuman-I-Islam’s Abdul Razzak Polytechnic just after completing my masters in Manufacturing Engineering in the year 2005. I worked there up to 2007 and then got an opportunity to work in the oil and Gas sector at Qatar for 2 years (2007-2009) which was one of the targets of my career and then I realized that I would like to be associated with the teaching profession so I came back to India and joined the same institute once again. Then in 2011, the foundation of Anjuman-I-Islam’s Kalsekar Technical Campus was laid and since then I am associated with the institute. I think the satisfaction of making someone ready for his profession from the society is a very crucial factor that keeps me motivated to stay connected with the education sector. The institution is very nice, here we help all those who need our help. We have our tagline for the student “WITH YOU TILL YOU DO NOT NEED US IN ANYWAY”

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

To ensure that students issues and queries must be addressed on time and best practices are followed in the department”

As an HOD I have to keep track of the smooth conduct of academics, address the challenges faced by the students, ensure that the overall student development is happening and also the student is made ready for the industry. At the same time, I have to ensure that we are ready to face accreditations like NAAC and NBA.

Which type of extracurricular activities are organized to enhance the skills of the students to make them industry ready?

“By ensuring exercises such as soft skill sessions, industry-based project for undergraduate students”

We have added soft skill sessions in the timetable which we conduct in every semester. We also have a campus Recruitment Training (CRT). By this they can easily learn the soft skills such as how to effectively work and manage things, issues in a group, decision-making skills are also imparted. We also encourage students to take industry-based projects for their undergraduate project work.

How does the curriculum ensure that the students are being prepared for the future?

“Experts from academics and industry contribute to making syllabus”

AIKTC is affiliated to Mumbai University and it follows the curriculum made by Mumbai University through consultation with experts from academics and industry. Above this, we also conduct technical programs and events for making the students future-ready.

How do you approach subjects and make them industry-oriented?

“By including case studies and mini projects in the curriculum”

We conduct case studies for certain courses and we have mini projects included in the curriculum. We assign problem statements to students for their mini-project work. By this the students can apply the learned knowledge and skills to find out solutions not only for the identified issues but also for the unidentified future obstacles.

What is your philosophy to train students apart from curriculum?

“By following Outcome Based Education”

We follow the Outcome Based Education (OBE) philosophy which is focused on outcomes rather than outputs. We have skill Development sessions included in the normal time table. We also conduct Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) for every class.

What makes this institute different from others for which people should explore it?

“Focus is more on providing practical knowledge instead of theory only”

We have a huge infrastructure and we conduct all the experiments as mentioned in the syllabus. We give opportunity to every student to get hands-on training on the equipment/instruments.

What are the greatest strengths of AIKTC?

“Dedicated faculty and staff are its greatest pillars of strength”

The infrastructure including the lab equipment and dedicated faculty and staff is the strength of AIKTC.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see for AIKTC specifically?

“The ever-changing demands of industry and technology”

The ever-changing nature of technology and to acquaint yourself with it is the biggest challenge today for higher education. We as faculty at AIKTC have to upgrade ourselves as per the needs of the market.

Any suggestions for the current youth and the aspiring students?

“Keep exploring and learning new things”

The students should keep on learning new things on their own so as to become competitive. Many learning resources are available free of cost. If anyone is genuinely interested, he/she can definitely learn it.
