Describe the general setting of WAT / GD (if any)?

Reishumei Basumata: “I appeared for the Common Admission Process (CAP) conducted by the IIMs in 2019. The process was divided in 2 parts: Written Ability Test and Personal Interview.

Now talking about the general setting of WAT, it happened in offline mode at Hotel Taj by Vivanta. We were first introduced to the rules and regulations of the process, given stationary(Pen and Paper) required for the process. Then we received a paper on which topics were written. We were given 10 minutes to think about the topic and around 25-35 minutes to write. We were not allowed to use any electronic device or book for guidance and there were invigilators guiding or invigilating the students during the process.

Pro tip- When thinking about the topic write down the 3,5 headlines you would like to write about, it will act as a framework and will help frame the answer."

What was the WAT / GD Topic?

Reishumei Basumata: “Government schools development in India.”

What were your answer/points put forward for the WAT or GD respectively?

Reishumei Basumata: "The condition of a Government school has improved in India with the initiates taken by government and educational NGOs. As I have spent the majority of my life in Delhi, talking specifically about Delhi government schools I have seen the infrastructure of government schools changing and being better than even some of the private schools. There are special workshops held in government schools to train students in extra-curricular activities like debates, arts and crafts, group discussion settings. The schools which one time used to have Urdu as a Medium now the students of those schools speak fluent English.

This change was very important for the students to excel in this fast-growing world and to be at par with students of any established school."

Describe the general setting of your personal Interview.

Reishumei Basumata: "The interview happened after the WAT process on the same day at Taj by Vivanta. There were 3 members in my panel. The panelists were the faculty of IIMs. The average interview duration in my panel was 35-45 minutes. It was not a stress interview but mostly about knowing you, your background, your academic knowledge, and your future goals.

Pro Tip- Listen to the question carefully, take your time to think before answering. If you do not understand the question ask again, as it will help you to give the on-the-point answer."

Reishumei Basumata: "1. Introduce yourself, including family background and educational qualification- Different for all.

Why do you want to change your domain from Literature to Business?
As I have a minor degree in Economics, Law of Diminishing marginal utility and to draw a graph.
What is your criteria to choose a college?- I have a setlist of priorities like placement reports, teaching faculties, ranking, infrastructure and amenities, and location.
Last book you read and what you liked about it."

Mention 3 reasons why you chose this college over other colleges which you converted.

Reishumei Basumata: "Campus life- The infrastructure is one of the best among IIMs with all the facilities like latest well-equipped classrooms, library, computer lab, sports complex and swimming pool, individual hostel rooms with personal washroom, self and paid laundry facilities, eateries, cafes, daily need product shop, Amul.

Placements- The average compensation is at par with the industry and also good ROI.

Location- The airport and railway station is only 10 Km away. The food culture suits my taste. The weather is good, not much cold in winters. The city is not much crowded."

What was the reason for you not converting other colleges? (if any)

Reishumei Basumata: “I was not able to convert TISS(HR-LM) due to certain reasons like didn't attempt much mock test, was more focused on CAT. The pattern is a bit different for TISS so should have given it equal attention.”
