Ms.Lalita Ganapathy has been in the field of education since 1999 and has held leadership roles in the K12 segment. She was recognised for her team excellence, academic and operation excellence and rewarded for her contribution. Now she is also involved in the higher education sector.

‘Her association with Montfort College begain in the year 2009. At Montfort College, which is in the 25th year now, she is involved in the promotion of UG programs which was introduced in 2021.

Which latest program are you offering in your institute to help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd? 

"We are offering BA, B. Sc., BBA and B. Com courses to students"

Karnataka being the only state which introduced National Education Policy, 2020, the college introduced UG programs for the first time in 2021. Currently we are offering courses in BA in Psychology-Journalism and Psychology-Optional English, B.Sc. in Computer Science and Psychology, BBA (Regular) and B.Com (Regular). 

Which factors make the programs of your college a best fit for the students?

"College ambience and teaching techniques are exceptional"

Our College has always been consistent with regard to education and teaching quality. We have well trained, highly qualified and experienced faculty members to educate students. The motto of the college is "Liberation with Enlightenment'' and hence culture and ambience of college is developed keeping the same goal in mind. The college ambience is like home away from home for the students who join us to pursue their dreams. The college is eco-friendly and has a treasure of plants and greenery surrounding the campus.

What would you say are the best practices of the courses your institute offers to students?

"The co-curricular activities we organize, followed by expert sessions and career scope make programs worth pursuing"

Some of the best practices are uncompromised teaching-learning methodologies including active learning, flipped learning, hands-on workshop, project based learning and outcome-based learning etc. In addition to this, we regularly give assignments to them and discuss with them about case studies, conduct guest lectures to supplement their existing knowledge and educate them about how things work in corporate culture. Lastly, to keep them physically and mentally fit, we organize numerous extracurricular activities, department wise events, inter and intra college fests and events to enhance their hidden talents and teach them about leadership, team building and organization management.

We offer a diverse range of employment oriented programs in the discipline of Science, Humanities, Commerce and Media. Apart from these, value added courses are regularly included in curriculum. How does the program of your college make students future and society ready? 

"By making them technically and ethically strong and resilient"

We regularly monitor the academic progress of our students and mentor them with respect to academics, social and emotional wellbeing. We also ensure they remain ethically and technically strong apart from the knowledge and the skills they acquire. Once they complete the course as students and move out of the college, they become professionals. They need to be prepared for the examination called LIFE.

How did you train your faculty to deliver this program to the students? 

"Faculty members are trained through professional development by attending guest sessions, seminars and events arranged by University"

We are affiliated to Bengaluru North University and hence University programs help us a lot in keeping ourselves updated with the latest trends of the academic and corporate world. Also, as NEP has been introduced for the first time in Karnataka, frequent sessions on the changes are shared through events like webinars and physical sessions by experts and academicians to upskill our faculty members. Apart from these, our college invites experts for guest lectures and empower our faculty members to deliver their respective subjects in the best possible way. 

How do you build a connection between courses of your institute and industry demands?

"By enhancing industry exposure of students through real time projects and latest courses"

We provide relevant but best industrial exposure to our students depending on their courses, skills and areas of interest. Our college is also planning to extend its activities soon on a larger scale and in a bigger campus. To bridge the gap between industry requirements and students skills, we offer a wide variety of courses on emerging trends including entrepreneurship, web page design, sports and other similar courses to help students develop the required skill set to work in the corporate world.

What were the challenges that you faced while inculcating this program in your curriculum?

"Implementation of NEP could be a challenge only in the initial stages"

The recently introduced National Education Policy in Karnataka has provided multiple options to the youth wherein there is an exit option after every year like this: 1 year completion offers a certificate, 2-years offer a Diploma, 3 years Graduation Degree and an Honors Degree after completing the 4-year course. All institutions have to experience the four year process to completely comment on it. We rise up to the challenges if any that come on the way. There is complete support from the University and the management. The benefit here for the students is that they can choose what they want. 

On what types of projects your students are currently working on through this program?

"Our students are working on interesting projects which add to experiential learning"

Our students are working on a diverse range of projects under the programs they are pursuing with us. We have created a platform for students to demonstrate their practical competence, designing skills and testing their own programs and algorithms in order to complete computational tasks. These projects not only help them to sharpen their intellectual qualities but also inculcate skills like creative thinking, analytical abilities, teamwork and hence enhance their overall personality. In addition to this, internships, workshops and field visits are regularly conducted by us.

Which career options would be available for students after pursuing courses from your college?

"Tremendous opportunities are available in outside world in both IT and Non-IT fields"

There are multiple career options available in the outside world in both IT and Non-IT domains including Freelancing, Digital Marketing and E-communication etc. Students, after successfully completing courses from our college, can work as a Business Analyst, Market Research Analyst, Social Media Analyst, Business Development Associate, Human Resource Manager in addition to securing versatile profiles in sectors like Banking, Finance, Management, Academia and Administration. In our college, we do have a dedicated placement cell to take care of recruitment related activities.
