Dr. Shiv Prakash T is the treasurer of Sri Vijaya Vittala Charitable and Educational Trust. He is involved in the academic administration and placement activities of the college. He has completed his PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering, Bangalore. He has over ten years of IT experience in the field of Embedded Systems and Digital Multimedia. He is currently authoring two books namely "Mastering Java" and "Data Structures in C" to be published by Tata McGraw Hill in 2019 and 2020 respectively. His research interests include Ad Hoc networks, Sensor networks and Embedded Linux. He has published several international research papers.

As a leader, you should give freedom to your juniors to express their style of working within the constraints of the organization. I always advise my team to work smart not hard.

Skill development has to be a part of any placement process, most freshers are unlikely to get niche jobs on graduation. Students are advised to pursue jobs that suite their acumen and talent, suitable training is provided for this.

Establishing a relation with the students and being available for them

As a trustee with a Doctorate in Computer Science having both industry and academic experience, I do not curtail myself to only administrative roles, I am involved with the students right from when they come to college to take admission, taking lectures for them and finally in the placement cell during their interviews.

Views on an ideal school environment

School environment should have an equal priority towards academics, sports, cultural and other activities, but seldom this can happen due to short semester spans, however, we still try to keep a balance.

Top qualities that an aspiring engineer must possess

Engineers should think in a broad angle, keeping in mind the industry needs with safety and protection for nature and environment. Nation building and entrepreneurship qualities should be instilled during the engineering course.
