Being a HOD, what are the roles & responsibilities towards the students?

Our prime focus is to prepare students for multinational corporations. We regularly conduct aptitude tests, guest lecture sessions, and staff development programs and publish instruction and guidance outside the college. We also plan extracurricular activities on weekends to help students hone their talents.

What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

I assume the students must contribute to society and improve their civic engagement. My leadership skills have helped me to bring about better citizens and engineers throughout my career. Everyone may approve that establishing a team is a leadership trait, but the most notable leadership skill I possess is the decision- making. I can handle any situation, even a negative one, and can make decisions based on the results I enforce.

How do you try to bring a practical approach towards subjects and make them industry oriented?

We offer python and cloud workshops, practical knowledge enhancement, and guest lectures for students. Additionally, the students with hands-on training attend the classes and participate in these programs. Our primary goal is to build practical knowledge based on the requirements of Anna University, which are related to the 4.0 syllabus.

How does your college prepare students for placements?

As far as our previous year is concerned, we conducted four hours of live tests each week. We also execute training and mock test interviews outside the regular classes schedule with assistance from placement cells. We train the students depending on their interests. We identify and fill the gaps among students before their final semester for employment with reputed companies.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs for the skill enhancement of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

The sports department conducts lectures and webinars in related fields. They concentrate on more than 200 students in separate wings for sports. They also have a kabaddi and cricket team. We also encourage students to participate in off-campus athletic activities. It is beneficial for both academic scholarships and job placements. We organize extracurricular events for employees and students, including those enrolled in NPTL courses required for faculties.

What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education at your college?

It is challenging to have students’ attention in the classroom. They easily get distracted due to their closeness to gadgets which is the current major issue. For this purpose, we have remaining coaching hours in the evening.

When you came to college, what was your vision, and how are you trying to achieve the same?

I have been working here for the past two years, and as a research-oriented person, I wanted to become more qualified and publish more research papers. When I joined, I had barely published one research paper. Currently, the tally is four papers in reputable journals. Thus my ambition and vision are already accomplished.

How does the department/college enhance the skills of the faculty and prepare them according to industry standards?

The faculty participate in the NPTL program to obtain the skills for the newest technology. This coursework assists them in learning how to deal with students and make decisions in the associated field. In addition to these courses, I usually advise my faculty colleagues to publish in various journals so they can stay up to date on new technology.

What are the college’s greatest strengths, and how can they be enhanced?

Rural and lower-middle-class people are developing skills on par with upper-middle-class people. Most colleges claim that training students in Tamil who don't understand the fundamentals of engineering and technology is their biggest issue. However, in our college, the best management and instructors motivate and train the students while providing a learning environment where they may learn anything. and also need to execute the publications and be research-oriented.
