Mr Atul Kumar Sahu is the Head of the ET&T Department at Kirodimal Institute of Technology, Raigarh. He has completed his B.E. (GEC Rewa), M.Tech (IIT Kharagpur) and is currently pursuing his Ph.D.(NIT Rourkela). His area of expertise includes Communication Engineering and Signal Processing. He has a vast experience of more than a 15 years in academics, research and administration. He aims to provide the best in class education to his learners.

What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Build good human beings and technically sound professionals”

As a faculty, my main aim has been to impart knowledge of moral values along with theoretical, practical subjects to my students. In this era of competition, it has been our goal to make our students the winner in every race and at the same time to make a good human being and a good citizen

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Building a relationship with your students as parents will make them feel much closer to you”

A Guru (Teacher) plays the role of a mentor/guide as well as a parent to the students in the institute. As a guide, you help them find solutions to difficulties or problems in their field of work and life. And at the same time, if you build a relationship with them as a parent, then the student becomes much closer to you. This makes the student feel more familiar and secure, especially if he/she belongs from a rural environment.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Practical demos and real-life applications of theory concepts”

Engineering is synonymous with practical competence. Keeping this in mind, we keep taking many steps to make our students practical. A practical Live demo of any theoretical solution is also an option. If the student sees the things he/she has read in theory in his/her daily life, then he/she is able to understand things easily and his interest also remains.

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students?

“Pre-placement training, entrance exam training and live projects”

The Department is constantly taking various measures to make its teaching more attractive and to link book knowledge with practical knowledge using a modern teaching style. Students are given small live projects so that their confidence can increase even more. At the same time, efforts are also being made to maintain a fear-free, familial relationship between students and teachers, so that students can consult their teachers not only for their teaching-related problems but also for other problems. Selection in various IT companies, selection in GATE exam and other guidance is also given to the students along with studies. In the field of research also, the department is working very fast. 

How does your department prepare students for Higher education and placements?

In the coming years, the IT industry will provide a lot of employment opportunities. Keeping this in mind, the teachers of the department constantly give guidance to the students for their daily teaching activities as well as other competitive activities. Through this, the institute keeps making regular efforts for the overall development of the students in academics and other areas. An expert has also been appointed for various sports-related activities in the institute.
