Er. B.S. Yadav is the Chairman of IES College of Technology. He is a man who is committed to providing quality education to the next generation. For this, he conceptualized and shaped the idea of an institute which will help in the overall growth of the students.

In 1999, he established the Infotech Education Society. The academician believes in the overall development of the students as he is an engineer and a sports player. He is the President of Bhopal District Table Tennis. Hence, he believes that sports and education go hand in hand.

Not only with education and sports, but the Chairman of IES is also aware of his role in his society and environment. For this, he has participated in various programs conducted to empower the society. He has adopted a village; and is an active part of the panel for “Swachh Bhopal” organized by Dainik Bhaskar.

In an exclusive interview with Mayank Kothari, Er. B.S. Yadav shared with us information about his institute, his view on change in education pattern.

Education is where theory meets practicality and discovery happens

Mark Van Doren said, “the art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery”. Since the last 20 years of my career, I have been practising this art, where I deal with teacher and students and assist them in finding their limitations and potentials. I established IES in the year 1999 and since then have been introducing new schools and colleges in India. Today, IES is a group of 9 colleges and five schools spread in Bhopal and Sehore.

Well, according to me, the education industry is an industry which requires much creativity. This is where lectures turn into brain-storming sessions and classrooms into thought factories. It is this vibrancy which is the USP of the education industry. All these things make it the best industry to work in. It is where theory meets practicality, and an invention or discovery happens.

Leadership is nurturing a flower to blossom

Leadership, according to my understanding, is no less than a parent’s role, guiding philosophy for both is to nurture. As a leader of an institute, I feel it is my responsibility to convert a lump of coal and refine it into a diamond through a rigorous process. For me, a good leader is someone who allows his team to think out of the box and who instils in the young mind the idea of creating something new. I believe in participative leadership theory. Moreover, what makes a leader happy is when his student passes with flying colours and do well in his career. It is a cycle that continues.

IES is affiliated to Barkatullah University and Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya

IES is an institute which is affiliated to universities for its various programs. The technical course of IES is affiliated to RGPV (Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya), and for education and management programs our colleges are affiliated to Barkatullah University. Therefore, there is not much that we contribute to syllabus creation besides our faculties being called to these universities for subject suggestions and syllabus modifications and more. However, we conduct workshops and training for our faculties as well as students to keep them updated with changing trends in their respective fields.

Learning is no more constraint to classrooms

Changes are part and parcel of life. It is what keeps this world moving. Like many other fields, a lot has changed over the past few decades in the education sector too. If I say that it has taken a somersault then, believe me, I will not be exaggerating. The teachers need to be more innovative while teaching students. The learning processes has also seen a sea of changes in the process. Learning has become digital, global and limitless. Now the focus of a student as well as a teacher is more on practical learning than on the concept of memorizing. In this digital world, top MNCs want employees who are multi-talented, multi-tasking, enthusiastic, keen-upon-learning. So, with this fast-paced world, the students and the teachers are required to be updated.

We plan to build IES as an International Level Institute

We plan to build an international level institution in which students have numerous avenues of learning and contributing towards knowledge creation, and for this, we plan to include more digital libraries and repositories like JGate, EBSCO, and more. We are keen to introduce students with more practical learning. The more practical exposure, the better is the learning. Hence, we plan to endow our labs with the latest equipment. An ERP system is already in utilization, but we intend to widen its scope and usage with different parties. Apart from this International Collaborations, MoUs and exchange programs are in our to-do list.
