What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To be a constant supporter and teach as per latest guidelines”

As a faculty member, I don’t just teach theoretical concepts to my students. I take them to ward rounds every day and make them learn practically in the hospital (MGM Hospital Warangal). and I am actively involved in case discussion, medication error and adverse drug reaction finding and reporting. I work along with my students in dose individualization and ADR minimization, Patient counselling, etc. As technology is improving and new diseases, therapies are evolving day by day. I try to keep myself updated with all the latest information.

What are the interventions you bring in apart from the curriculum to train the students?

“Journal club presentations by students, fun activities and games for students interests”

Apart from the curriculum, we have various activities every week. Every Friday we have Journal club presentations by students, fun activities and games on Saturday. And monthly we try to get a guest lecture by industry prodigies or renowned Physicians. We even conduct mock interviews which will be helpful during placements. Conferences are also held every 3-6 months where we invite delegates from industries and government officials.

How do you help your student to thrive in the competitive world?

“Motivates students to become their own competition and excel individually”

I never compare my students with other college students or among themselves also. I believe that each student has their own learning curve which will improve at their own pace. The students should compete with themselves and try to make improvements consistently.

What is the rate of admissions in your college?

“Exponential growth in terms of new admissions at our college”

Vaagdevi College of Pharmacy is well known in and around the state and competition for securing seats is high. After looking at the current state of admissions, the rate of admission is about the same as last year. There has been a steady rise in students opting for our college.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of students?

“We have a plethora of extracurricular activities like Conferences and hands-on sessions”

In all the extracurricular activities we put students forward to organize. We divide them into committees and assign work to each of them. We also switch committees so they can learn all the aspects of organizing. We also have quiz competitions, patient counselling competitions, poster presentations, seminars, essay writing competitions which will help students to gain practical skills.

Have you introduced any new programs at your college?

“Student exchange programs are being planned on a global scale”

We are currently planning for student exchange programs. Here we send our students to foreign universities and intake students from those universities to our college for 2-3 months. In these programs, the students will be exposed to a different environment that could expand their knowledge.

What are the salary trends of students placed by your college?

“Clinical pharmacist can earn starting from INR. 25-30,000 Rupees per month”

Packages depend on the type of career students wish to choose. The Physician Assistant and Clinical Pharmacist packages range between 25,000-30,000 Rs per month. The Industry packages start from 20,000 Rs per month but some students who excelled in college got higher packages around 60,000 Rs per month.
