The duration of the theoretical test has been decreased from 180 minutes to 150 or 120 minutes. According to sources, the tests ran smoothly, and the new system was well-implemented. The assessment procedure will begin shortly.

Students had to participate in group projects, take two internal assessment tests with multiple-choice questions, and submit assignments for the 40 internal marks. The previous method required only two internal evaluation examinations and tasks to be completed.

“We will soon finalise the syllabus for third and fourth semesters,” the source added.

On Saturday, the first-semester exam under NEP was concluded at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya. The time allotted for the theoretical paper was dropped to 150 minutes. According to Vineetha Rai, registrar (evaluation), a large number of non-Kannadiga students chose the Kannada language in the first semester, which is a positive trend.

Internally, the institution has given points for student travels to tribal communities as part of surveys, as well as for generating promotional films and PowerPoint presentations.

This month marks the end of the examinations at St Agnes College. According to Sister Venessa, principal, the time of the theoretical examination has been decreased to 120 minutes.“Overall, it was a smooth transition, " she stated. Meanwhile, a few lecturers believed that it would take some time to transition to the NEP-2020 syllabus.

“The concept is good but was implemented in a hurry without much homework. The colleges including private, aided and government ones were not well-prepared and there was confusion regarding the syllabus,” said a lecturer at an autonomous college.

According to a government college lecturer, the success of NEP-2020 would be determined only after a candidate has graduated from an institution. From April 6, Mangalore University will begin the first semester under NEP and other semester exams (old pattern).
