New Delhi: Aligarh Muslim University was declared 'A +' rank by the National Assessment and Accreditation Board (NAAC) in its updated review released on Wednesday thereby improving its stand among the country's best universities.

Previously, NAAC designated AMU as an 'A' rank category, and the Vice-Chancellor of AMU, Tariq Mansoor formed a committee of senior faculty members, chaired by Professor Parvez Mustazab (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), to write a letter for revision of the ranking.
“I am sure our faculty and students will improve even further in future. The grading provided by the council is crucial for allotment of funds and grants by the University Grants Commission (UGC),” the vice-chancellor said.
According to the vice-chancellor, the NAAC ranking implies that AMU's governance and academic delivery, among other crucial metrics, are strong. The latest rank that has been assigned will be valid for five years beginning May 10, 2022.
Extending his congratulations to the faculty, students, non-teaching staff, and alumni, the Vice-Chancellor stated that AMU's position among the country's leading universities and educational institutions reflects the sheer hard work of the teachers as well as the university's relevant and focused research.
