Bachelor of Arts [B.A] [Product Design] From University of Canterbury

Academic Eligibility:

• Students must have passed 12 years of schooling and an overall average of
  • An overall average of 75% with a minimum of 60% in English in the All-India Senior School Certificate or the India School Certificate (ISC),OR
  • An overall average of 80% with a minimum of 65% in English from one of the following three Indian State Board year 12 qualifications: (i) Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC), (ii) Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Higher (Secondary) School Certificate; (iii) Karnataka Pre-University Certificate,OR
  • One year of successful study (B average / First Class / First Division) towards an undergraduate degree at a recognised university in India with a current NAAC accreditation of B or better,OR
  • Completed a degree at a recognised university with a current NAAC accreditation of C or better
  • Prior knowledge of science and mathematics is strongly recommended
• Students having knowledge of digital technologies, technology, or design and visual communication will be an added advantage
• Proof of English proficiency may be required for international applicants, whose first language is not English.
• Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL to get admission to this program.
• Submission of SAT and ACT exam scores are not mandatory in New Zealand Universities.

Indian Student Eligibility:

• Students required to passed Class 12th with a percentage of 70-72% (Major), 78-82% (Honours) from one of the following boards:
  • All India School Certificate (CBSE)
  • Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
• If English is not the students’ first language then they must provide proof of English competency.

The scope of product design roles is widening from the traditional design of commercial products to include the design of user experiences, systems, and processes, as well as implementing virtual reality into existing applications.

Increasingly, many product designers work in multidisciplinary teams. Graduates may be employed in large manufacturing companies, design agencies, iwi, educational and training companies, engineering consultancies, and central and local government.

They may do design work for businesses in many industries such as medical, home appliances, packaging, computing, education, graphic design, cosmetics, or therapeutics and pharmaceutical companies.

Product designers can choose to start their own company.

More broadly, BProdDesign graduates will be prepared to work in a variety of roles for modern companies that not only require a technical background, but value innovation, customer focus, and business sense.
