Russian is one of the three major world languages, together with English and Chinese. It is spoken by 280 million people. Russian is the language of about a quarter of the world's scientific literature. With the conclusion of the Cold War, Russia opened its doors to foreign trade, banking, mass media, culture, and entertainment, and with it came a surge in interest in learning Russian. 

Every year, hundreds of Russians visit the United States for business or pleasure, and thousands more have made the country their home. Russia continues to play a pivotal role in global affairs, and evidence suggests that demand for foreign professionals with Russian language skills is increasing.

Conversational topics are provided with appropriate grammar structures, while the grammar portion of the course progresses in a psychologically proven order from simple “basic concepts” to more complex issues . One of the most fundamental ideas is to provide students with the linguistic tools they need to express themselves in everyday settings through continuous training in communicative skills and models, allowing them to achieve their own communicative goals.

They teach six levels of Russian year-round (beginning to intermediate) in their group classes, and eight levels during the hectic summer months (adding upper-intermediate and advanced classes). They have adapted the framework of the European Language Portfolio for compatibility reasons. Based on their experience with students passing through their school, the number of lessons required to complete each level is averaged. Students who enrol in a one-on-one course will spend less time transitioning from one level to the next.
