A computer adaptive test (CAT) called the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is intended for assessing certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills in written English, in preparation for admission to a graduate management degree program, such as an MBA. A certain knowledge of grammar and arithmetic as well as some algebra and geometry will be required. It is believed that the GMAT assesses various skills critical to real-world business and management success, such as analytical writing and problem-solving as well as data sufficiency, logic, and critical reasoning, according to the test's owner, the Graduate Management Admission Council.
