Students enrolled in the 2nd year of a B.Tech Marine Engineering degree course are required to complete a 3-year course comprising six semesters and includes Ship-in-Campus training on the seventh semester. The Indian Maritime University awards a Degree Certificate upon successful completion of its term end examinations. A successful candidate will also be exempt from the Part-A Exam of the Class-IV of the Directorate General of Shipping.
