The Government of India has decided to combine all eight existing Indian Railways administrations, from Junior Scale to HAG Plus, into a single Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS). In 2020/2021, a select UPSC test for the new Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) will be directed for the first time.
Officials for the Indian Railway Accounts Service, Indian Railway Traffic Service, Indian Railway and Indian Railway Personnel Service have all been chosen through the Civil Services Exam (CSE), while those for the other building administrations have been chosen through the Indian Engineering Service (IES). All current Railway Services will be merged into IRMS, which will be supervised by UPSC and would be selected through the Civil Services Examination (CSE) and Indian Engineering Services (ESE/IES).
