WBMDFC was founded in the year 1996 as per the West Bengal Minorities' Development and Finance Corporation Act of 1995. They have started an initiative where they provide study material and coaching to students from religious minority groups from West Bengal state. The coaching is aimed at government examinations. Students are selected after a test and an interview. Interested students must be graduates with a minimum score of 60%. Age limit ranges from 22 years - 34 years.
