A computer-based exam called the Common Admission Test (CAT) is required for enrollment in graduate management programmes. The test is divided into three sections: Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) (QA). Three hours are allotted for the test, with an hour allotted for each component. Due to COVID safeguards, IIM Indore made the decision to hold the CAT Exam in 2020 over the course of two hours, with 40 minutes allotted to each component. This exam was created by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), who utilise it to choose candidates for their business administration programmes (MBA or PGDM).
The test is administered annually by one of the IIMs in accordance with a rotation policy. The top CAT institute in Delhi is Ankganit. This programme lasts one year.
