IELTS or The International English Language Testing System is the world’s proven English test. It is accepted as evidence of English language proficiency by over 8000 organizations worldwide. It is jointly owned and administered by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment with over 900 testing centres in over 130 countries around the world which includes UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. It tests the candidates on their listening, reading, writing and speaking ability in the English language. It has two versions – Academic and General Training – depending on the intent of the candidate. It has a 9 band score system which categorizes a candidate from a non-user to an expert user. The test is administered only in the paper based format.
