The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai, conducts the MHT CET (MH CET) or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for admissions to first-year Engineering and Technology (BE/BTech) and Pharmacy (BPharma/PharmaD) programmes in the state. The Maharashtra DTE used to organise the exam until 2018.
The exam was terminated in 2013, and admission to undergraduate engineering programmes (BE/BTech) was based on JEE Main. However, the exam was restarted in 2016, following which the government decided to give Class 12 grades 50 percent of the weighting and CET scores 50 percent. MHT CET has been required for admissions in the state from 2018.
