"NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, and we’ll tell you right now that this examination is to medical students what JEE is to engineering students – in more ways than one. Just like JEE, NEET is also very difficult, but that should be expected. After all, it’s an entrance examination in India for students who aspire to study medical courses (both graduate and postgraduate) and dental courses. NEET’s predecessor was the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT), and all students who take NEET aspire to study medical courses and be awarded the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree; or they wish to graduate with the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree to their names. For the former group, the students target either governmental or private medical and dental colleges. The exam itself is composed of 180 multiple questions drawn from physics, chemistry, and biology, each of them with varying levels of difficulty, so it’s imperative students understand what they are getting into. We should also point out that NEET isn’t conducted via an online platform. Students will need a good old-fashion pen and paper to write it. Language shouldn’t be a barrier too because NEET is a bilingual exam, meaning it is conducted in two languages (Hindi and English). This is advantageous to students because any sort of deficiency in English won’t necessarily be a limiting factor against success. The marking scheme for NEET is as strict as the exam itself because even though 4 marks are awarded for each correct answer, there is -1 mark for each question answered wrong. So, students have to make every answer count. Having said all this, the one thing we are most concerned about when it comes to this very exam is the difficulty level. We keep stressing on this fact because though the rewards are plentiful and necessary, getting them will test you to your limit. And yet, with the right tools, you will be more than ready to face NEET.
