The Indian Forest Service (IFoS) is the all India services. The Indian Forest Service was constituted in the year 1966 under the all India services Act, 1951 by the government of India. The constitution under Article-312 provide basis for all India services. The constitution empowers the parliament to regulate, the recruitment and conditions of service of persons appointed to all India services. The IFoS officers are recruited through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) by conducting an all India level competitive examination open to graduates with science background. The IFoS selection procedure includes three levels of examination- preliminary, mains, and interview. In preliminary examination UPSC asking objective type questions and examination is held with the preliminary examination of IAS. The main is a subjective examination with general knowledge and two optional papers, general English.
