The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) is the all India administrative civil service. All India administrative services are common to both central and state governments. The constitution under Aticle-312 provide basis for all India services. The constitution empowers the parliament to regulate, the recruitment and conditions of service of persons appointed to all India services. At present, there are 58 groups A central services. IAS officers are recruited from civil services examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The IAS selection procedure includes three examination- preliminary, mains, and interview. In preliminary examination UPSC asking objective type questions while mains is subjective type of examination. Interview is the personality test of the candidate. They are also promoted from state civil services and selected from non-state civil service. The retirement age of IAS officer is 60 years. A person once appointed to the Indian Administrative service (IAS) or Indian Foreign Service (IFS) becomes ineligible to reappears in civil services examination. After getting selected, candidates undergo training at LBSNAA, Mussoorie for IAS.
