The “Ph.D. Programme in Computer Science” (PCS) is a Ph.D. program offered by the graduate school of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS). PCS was created by the participating institutions of the Center for Computational Sciences and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in 2005 with the mission to provide high-quality Ph.D. education on a high scientific level within three years. The PCS program includes lectures, seminars, and methods courses. In addition, PCS encourages participation in international conferences or workshops. PCS also emphasizes soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and moderation techniques. The Ph.D. candidates are obliged to take part in tutoring activities.

The semester fees comprise administration fees, student body fees, and a Student union fee. The summer semester fee totals $476.54 for 2021. While the Winter semester fee totals $470.43 for 2021. So the yearly fee for attending this program is $946.97.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- To get a PCS admission, a master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, telecommunication engineering, communication engineering or an equivalent research direction is required. Normally, achievements in the following areas with the minimum amount of 120 ECTS credit points have to be proven by transcript:
- Practical Computer Science
(especially operating systems, distributed systems, software technology, databases and information systems, telematics) - Theoretical Computer Science
(especially algorithms, logic design theory, complexity theory, coding and cryptology, formal logic and semantics, computer algebra, artificial intelligence) - Technical Computer Science
(in particular expertise in the field of hardware)
- Practical Computer Science
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Language requirements: Demonstration of sufficient English language skills by earning the minimum required grade on an internationally recognized test.
- As a rule, the last test must have been taken no more than two years prior to submission of the application for admission to this degree program (date received).
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries can prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
