MD in Homoeopathy is a 3-year long postgraduate course in medicine including a year of house job, and remaining 2 years of research and study.

What is MD in Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is the branch of medicine that offers effective treatment with zero side effects. It is a system of complementary medicine in which ailments are treated by minute doses of natural substances that in larger amounts would produce symptoms of the ailment.

The course is designed to focus on in-service training rather than lectures, including elements such as conferences, GDs, seminars, clinical meetings and journal clubs and also requires the submission of a written thesis or dissertation with detailed commentary on the area of specialization.

Over 200 million people use homoeopathy on a regular basis around the world. Homoeopathy is now practised in over 80 countries. It is legally recognised as an individual medical system in 42 countries and as a component of complementary and alternative medicine in 28 countries.

What Does MD in Homeopathy Comprise?

Each student admitted to the M.D. (Hom) programme must serve a year of mandatory housework. During this time, he must attend college OPD and IPD and examine various types of patients in OPD and IPD. Each student is required to provide clinical training to U.G students as well as interns. 

Students must attend P.G Seminars and conferences as required by the Central Council of Homoeopathy in New Delhi. During the first three months of M.D(Hom) Part I, each student must choose a topic for his dissertation and write a synopsis under the supervision of the guide assigned to him, which is then submitted to M.U.H.S for approval.

Eligibility for MD in Homoeopathy

Candidates must have completed the BHMS (Direct or Graded) degree or its equivalent, as determined by the Central Council of Homoeopathy. 

  • Those who completed the prescribed internship on or before the deadline for application submission alone are eligible for admission. 
  • Candidates aspiring to pursue the course need to have a B.H.M.S degree with a minimum aggregate score of 60% from a university recognized by the Medical Council of India.

MD in Homoeopathy: Admission Process

For admission to the course, eligible candidates need to clear a relevant entrance exam, conducted by universities at the both State and national levels. 

  • Candidates need to score the minimum cut- off marks specified by the university, on the basis of which a merit list is prepared and seats are allotted.
  • Admission to PG courses will be based on a rank list generated from the AIAPGET exam
  • The entrance examination commissioner will prepare merit and category lists of candidates based on their NEET Examination rank. 
  • They also managed the admission process for all MD(hom) seats in two government hospitals.
