Directorate of Distance Education IKG-Punjab Technical University (PTU) is a State University established under Punjab Technical University Act, in the year 1996 (Punjab Act No. 1 of 1997) and the Directorate of Distance Education is an arm of IKGPTU Gujral to support and facilitate the open learning at the University more efficiently. All the courses being offered by IKG-PTU (open) are recognized by University Grants Commission.

Information technology and computer applications program of DDE- IKGPTU offers various courses at graduate and post graduate levels where duration various from 1 year to 3, depending on the course.
