Admissions to Ph.D. Programme shall be made through an admission test (common for M.Phil. & Ph.D. - MPAT) to be conducted by the University every year. MPAT will be held separately for each subject/discipline for admission to a Ph.D. programme under the concerned Faculty. Candidates who have obtained their M.Phil. degree as per University Grants Commission Regulations, 2009 shall be exempted from MPAT for admission to Ph.D. A teacher candidate appointed as per the MCI/DCI/INC/PCI qualifications with 3 years of continuous service in any University teaching Department or constituent/affiliated colleges of any University shall also be exempted from the requirement of MPAT.
As per the guidelines of the statutory regulating council i.e. Medical Council of India, a candidate for admission to the Ph.D. course in the Faculty of Medicine must possess :-
(i) MD or MS or M.Sc. in medical subjects of the University or of another University recognized by the Medical Council of India. Where marks are given in Masters course examination, the concerned candidate should have obtained at least 55% marks in the P.G. examination.
A relaxation of 5% in the minimum eligibility marks shall be applicable to the candidates belonging to the categories of OBC/SBC/SC/ST/Physically handicapped.
(ii) a teacher of this University or working in other recognized University or in a recognized constituent/affiliated college - possessing eligibility conditions as at (i) above shall also be eligible for admission in Ph.D. programme provided -
a) his supervisor shall be a faculty of Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology.
b) his place of work shall be the concerned department of the respective college of this University and the department of the co-supervisor (if any), if the co-supervisor is from any other institution/centre of repute.
