Our college faculty qualification of M.E or M.Tech, pH.d Usually, faculty teach what they enjoy teaching and what their area of expertise is. Unfortunately, many faculty don’t like to teach the larger, lower-level course sections and those get relegated to the junior faculty and/or grad students.
In my experience, the faculty member makes a preference known. It is usually assumed that interest and competence motivate the preference and the request will be honored. Sometimes the course is one no one wants to teach; then the faculty member may be asked to teach it out of loyalty to the organization.
