Bachelor of Social Sciences (Environmental Science)

  • Environmental Science is the interdisciplinary study of the environment, its functioning and its relationship to human activities. Society has a growing need for specialists able to recognize, understand, solve and prevent environmental problems.
  • The Environmental Science program at the University of Ottawa focuses on the integration of traditional science disciplines (e.g. biology, earth sciences, chemistry, physics) to study the natural environment and the impact of human activities.
  • The program consists of a core of basic science courses complemented by courses in various disciplines that address the scientific and societal aspects of environmental problems.
  • In addition, the program offers three areas of specialization: conservation and biodiversity; global change; and environmental geochemistry and eco-toxicology.
  • The final year entails an independent research project or equivalent credits in advanced courses in the specialization. The extended French stream is available with this program.

Course Curriculum:

I think it is extremely well-formed because I can choose from 3 specializations after first-year. This means I have a say in the curriculum I will study.

Fees:

The tuition fees were due August 27th and September 27th for students with OSAP. There were numerous scholarships available through the eurozone portal which anyone could apply for however somewhere specific to international students of francophones. For my program, the tuition fees were about $7,500. On average it was the same as other schools for the faculty of science.
