Master of Applied Science [M.ASc] (Computational Science and Engineering)
Field of Study:
CA$8,548/Yr
- McMaster University offers MASc in Computational Science and Engineering for a duration of 2 years.
- It is an on-campus, thesis-based program available on a full-time basis.
- The School of Computational Science and Engineering has an equal partnership between the Faculties of Science and Engineering, with outreach to the School of Business and the Faculty of Health Sciences.
- Students of MASc or MSc degree with a thesis is required to complete a minimum of four half-courses and to successfully defend a thesis.
- The research areas of the program are:
- Computational physical sciences
- Computational optimization, design, and control
- Computational biosciences
- The School of Computational Science and Engineering arranges a series of seminars, students are required to attend and may be required to present part of their research results as part of this series.
- The student-faculty ratio of this program is 20:1 which increases the interaction between faculty and the students.
- It is expected that many students will choose this route towards a Ph.D. degree; however the master’s program also prepares students for high-level industry jobs that involve independent critical thinking and state-of-the-art knowledge of modern computational methodology.
