Downtown life, opportunity to take classes from the esteemed and world-renowned economist Ajaz Hussain Khan and immigration opportunities
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus was absolutely excellent, with a key focus on rigorously enhancing student's knowledge. In particular, the ECO204 course run by the esteemed and world-renowned economist Ajaz Hussain Khan had an excellent utilization of interactive techniques to help students understand the basics of microeconomic optimization principles.
Exams
For the application, I had to submit my grades through a portal called OUAC, where I listed all my university options. I then had to submit two essays and a video interview with a random question. Yes, I had one round of interviews. My suggestion is to have a good idea of why you want to attend university and to do some research beforehand
Placement
Placement opportunities are fantastic as the university has many links to large firms, such as the Big 4 firms, CPG, and even international firms such as Lulu, ICICI Bank, and Birla Cement. The alumni are always willing to help us out and usually respond to all our LinkedIn requests, allowing us to gain a practical understanding of what we are studying. As an example, a notable alumnus from my batch is Vaibhav Singh Rathore, who was able to explore his interests in UI/UX development as well as project management by holding internships at 3 different companies
Internship
Unfortunately, I have not yet been selected for an internship.
Events
Campus life was good, we were provided ample opportunities through orientation week and Rotman Commerce student events to meet our fellow peers. Residence life also gave us this opportunity, and some of my closest friends were made there. My residence served good food, serving various cuisines on a weekly basis, and even served delicacies from my homes, such as Idiyappam and Erissery.
Fees
$55000-$65000 (fees in CAD, increase as you go through the program)
Scholarship
No
Faculty
My esteemed faculty was extremely approachable throughout the academic year. I am not quite sure about the mathematics, so I would not be able to provide an accurate estimate of the student-faculty ratio, however through an educated guess I would say 1 member of faculty for every 70 students. In terms of faculties that were great, I was very impressed with the Engineering faculty, where there has been a lot of investment in providing world-class facilities to the students. I was also impressed with Sidney Smith Hall (especially the classroom where I was instructed by the esteemed and world-renowned economist Ajaz Hussain Khan).
Hostel
I opted for Chestnut residence, which was a converted hotel, so was better than the traditional student residence options. However it was slightly more expensive, so generally, I would recommend taking up offers from other residences, such as Innis College Residence.
