I've always wanted to pursue psychology and I knew that UBC had a great psychology department as well as research opportunities! I liked whatever I had read and heard about the school. Good faculty, campus, location, facilities, opportunities, etc.
Course Curriculum
As of now, I'm quite happy with the curriculum and my professors!
Exams
I had to provide my 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade marks. I had to write a few essays about myself, my passions, my personality, my future goals, achievements, internships, activities, extracurriculars, and volunteering work. I also had to provide a letter of recommendation. I would say try to be yourself while writing essays. Be honest and highlight your positive qualities and achievements. Connect them to your interests and future goals.
Placement
I've heard it's pretty good, but I'm not too sure about this! Just finished my first year.
Internship
Not yet
Events
Coming from a big city I expected more out of campus life, events, and the city. However, overall I enjoyed my first year! Campus facilities and events were fun!
Fees
$38000 a year approx
Scholarship
I did receive an Outstanding International Student award of $10000 CAD. It was a one-time entrance award, with no application process.
Faculty
I only know about the faculty of arts. Most of my professors have been quite approachable and understanding! They are all very well versed in their respective subjects and good teachers!
Hostel
I stayed on campus first year. Single Rooms (bathroom shared with one more person) were spacious enough with basic furnishing and heating! The residence facilities were pretty good! Lounges on each floor with single connected rooms! Overall great accommodation!
