Lanagara College in Detail

Most of my friends were here and they told me that it's a great college with many courses and great infrastructure. Then I went to one of the agents in India to apply for an offer letter for this college for Diploma in Computer Studies which was for $150. And when I received the offer from the college I paid the fees for the first semester and applied for my Canadian Visa and my 12th class results were really good too, 90% to be exact and I met all the requirements for this college and then I started my studies in January 2017.

Course Curriculum :

All the courses are perfect for beginners. It includes many programming languages and graphic designing as well. Covers mostly all the important programming languages.

Exams :

I was interested in programming as it was first introduced in the 10th standard in our school in India. Then I was so interested in programming that I opted for this course. Most of my friends did this course before and they told me this college has many practical applications of the programming skills in their courses. The total credits for this program were 60, out of which 24 credits were for electives.

Placement :

There are many visiting companies in the college but they are not big ones. They offer the minimum wages according to the province or just a little more than the minimum wage. But are good for initial experience.

Internship :

It doesn't offer an internship but has a job portal to look for the companies. It can be used if you opt for Co-op along with your courses, which helps in improving resume skills and interview skills. Many companies do come to the college for seminars and job placements but they are not big ones.

Events :

Many intercultural fests are celebrated and many social activities such as going out with people from different countries for lunch, going to the aquarium, going for a hike and many more.

Fees :

Fees are like triple for international students compared to national students. If a national student is paying $550 for course than an international student will be paying around $1850 per course. There are scholarships available but are mostly for national students. The scholarships are based on the activities you perform during the program, your academic performance and volunteering.

Faculty :

Well educated faculty. Most of them have PhD's and they know what they are teaching. Each course also has teaching assistants in them for additional help with the studies.

Hostel :

I lived in a basement and 40% of the fees were covered by me by working off-campus and the rest I got from my parents. I earned enough from my off-campus job so that I can pay for my food, living and mobile phone. All the transit charges were covered in tuition fees.
