The university had a co-op element, well-accredited, and economic living arrangements. I also had a few people from my network who did this program so I had some assurance. The program was designed for working professionals since I had work ex and have done a master's before I was more inclined towards this program. Also, their dual-degree option with their Partnered University from the UK was a great incentive to join.
Course Curriculum
Quite good, well to do and approachable. I have many years of experience and knowledge. I have industry knowledge and experience as well which is a great bonus.
Exams
One year of work experience needed, no entrance exam. The scores of the IELTS exam is also required. I had 7.5. They do have ESL Support for those with low grades. I opted for the program cause it has a lot of international students and also because it is well accredited. Having been working before coming to Canada I found it a bit hard to prepare for entrance exams hence this University worked well for me which valued my work experience over an entrance score.
Placement
They were quite good. Nanaimo is 2 hours away from Vancouver. About an hour away from Victoria. So you have all the big MNCs present. Companies like Amazon, IPSOS, Microsoft, BBTV to name a few. So it is located in a central location is a great advantage.
Internship
Yes, they do. I have had 2 work ops. And they help with networking as well. The hours on campus are less. But there are many other part-time jobs in the community that can help one with paying their bills.
Fees
There are scholarships available for students from Japan and certain countries. The fee structure is subject to change but was approximately 47,000 for me for the dual degree option. Considering living expenses as well this was a fairly economical option for a Master's Degree in Canada. It having a work element also made it quite cost-effective.
Hostel
I choose to stay off-campus because it was cheaper than a campus stay. Also, more space and privacy to stay off-campus. Campus Res has a good community and is very close to campus. But it is slightly expensive.
