I chose the University of Ottawa because of the program and the athletes. Not to mention the city is fantastic and all the people are very welcoming. It's a great atmosphere to be in and what they could offer me ultimately caught my attention.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum can be very vague at times; that is all the science students must go into the same starting courses. Otherwise, once programs begin to generalize themselves it becomes a strong overall course curriculum.
Exams
I have taken various university level exams with variable scores depending on the course. Typically, it ranges from 70-90%.
Placement
The placements come from CO-OP as mentioned above and the job opportunities in Ottawa in general, are strong. Students typically stay in the summer because it's fairly easy to get a job. There is a lot of retail around because of the Rideau center so thus, so the job opportunities are strong.
Internship
They provide CO-OP but I have no part-taken in it. I presume it would be a strong opportunity to branch out and work in hospitals or labs. This will only help increase your ability to make networking for yourself once school ends.
Events
Every "large" event is celebrated at UofO. Sometimes there are events unheard of that take place. They do a lot of events surrounding wellness, they have poster fairs, and the typical "university party events" such as St. Patty's, etc.
Fees
The fee structure came about on uozone. It breaks it down well. There are no other charges that are not listed on uozone.
Scholarship
Yes, the process of receiving scholarships is fairly simple. You can also apply for scholarships and find out which ones you are eligible for on uozone. Financial aid also works the same.
Examination Structure
The exam structure can be conflicting at times. But they are flexible with allowing you to move one if you have more than 4 in two days. It, however, depends on what faculty you are in to distinguish how lenient they are with this rule.
Faculty
I think the faculty of science at the University of Ottawa is amazing. They provide you with the underlying skills needed to be great in your field and propel you to the next level whether that be grad school or a master's.
Hostel
Residences at Uottawa vary. You have the first-year residences which are all very tightly knit together (except the ones located on Rideau st). They provide students with the opportunity of getting to know one another very easily.
