Navdeep Singh Review at University Of Winnipeg [UWINNIPEG], Winnipeg | Collegedunia

Firm in life

NS
7.2 /10

This university gave me the option of enjoying qualitative education, with very affordable tuition and I took it. Moreover, the location was one of the factors for my admission as well, I have access to pretty much everything near my university.

Course Curriculum :

The Course Curriculum is very well managed. However, the course material in some courses varies to the different professors, sometimes a bad professor can affect your whole course. Moreover, I found every course up-to-date with the latest course material.

Exams :

My Scores: IELTS 7.5, Post Secondary Result (12th): 85% Class Minimum score: IELTS 6.5, Post Secondary (12th): 60%

Placement :

The University of Winnipeg provides an option to every student to opt for Co-op courses that train them in job finding and profile building. Moreover, there are various workshops that provide an opportunity for students to get exposure to different companies. Not sure about any placement process.

Internship :

No, I didn't get the internship.

Events :

Our university campus has different buildings for every department for example Buhler Centre is for the business department. Every building is equipped with all the required infrastructure and every student has access to every facility. Students also have access to a gym and an indoor stadium filled with different types of sports equipment. One of the biggest libraries I've ever seen and you usually find most of the university students somewhere in that deeply trenched library. We have wifi facility while we're on campus. We have a building solely made for the purpose of student affairs and a separate department for international students.

Fees :

When I applied for admission, it mentioned a range between $11,730 - $19,130 for business students. I paid a total of $15,959 during my first year and I would recommend students make sure that their finances allow them to go the maximum amount annually for the total term of their degree because every course has different fees and it can completely go wrong if you are only able to afford the lowest range.

Scholarship :

Yes, I have received a scholarship named Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative – Undergraduate Scholarship. This scholarship provides a certain amount of money according to your scores and credit completed every semester, I received a total of $1600 this semester. There was an application on the website of the university that I had to fill out, which asked me to fill in my financial need and my current financial health. Also, at the end of the application, I had to write an introduction essay, with the reason for me to aid any financial help.

Faculty :

Not sure about the faculty-to-student ratio. My overall experience with faculty and staff members is going great. I came across many professors, who helped me understand this new environment of education, during my first semester. However, I also had a couple of incidents where the professor was more tend to just fill me up with the course material and didn't focus on teaching us. Most of the professors are very friendly and approachable. My two favorite professors now are David Navratil and Janis Thiessen. Both professors were a blessing to me, as at the start I struggled with the courses taught by these a lot, but they helped me through it and I scored reasonably good marks and all thanks to them.

Hostel :

I'm currently residing in an apartment with my sister and a friend. It's a two-bedroom apartment with a charge of $1299 monthly. This apartment was one of the best options for me, as I have access to various facilities within walking distance. There are various options to choose from in this city, as there are a number of apartment rental options and many numbers of students also prefer living with families in their rental homes.
