Aarjav Desai Review at Fanshawe College, London | Collegedunia

Rising above struggles

AD
5.3 /10

I was always fond of size of the college and fanshwe being one of the largest in Ontario attracted me plus it had great soccer facilities so I was more keen in joing fanshawe

Course Curriculum :

Business Finance is quite a difficult course as it is always updated with new laws coming into action so every year there is some change in the information but this course is difficult for an international student as you are not familiar with genral banking laws and pension plans here in canada though the faculty here is great and ex finance professionals currently sharing their work experience and theoretical knowledge in the class apart from this there is not much industrial exposure you might get

Exams :

My score in 12th boards cbse was 86% and in fanshawe minimum requirement is 70% in class 12th not only the 12th results but you also have to give ielts for securing admission in fanshawe, minimum requirement in Ielts is overall 6.5 bands with minimum of 6 bands in reading, writing speaking and listening modules, I was able to score 7 bands overall with 8 in listening, 7 in reading 6.5 in writing and 6 in speaking

Placement :

There is no on campus placement guranteed so all we have to do is look up for jobs on internet and their portals no company profiles are being sent to us by college but most of them gets placed around 50% of the students gets job in their own field where they want to but rest 50% struggles with jobs and work somewhere nkt related to their field

Internship :

NA

Events :

Fanshawe is a great hub to socialize it has it’s own club in the campus where you can chill during breaks not only that fanshawe organizes various types of events almost every week where you get to meet new people and make some great memories. Talking about sports, Fanshwe is one of the leading colleges in Ontario in terms of sports infrastructure it has almost every sports facility including squash and golf, but soccer is the apple of my eye and is number one amongst all of Ontario. Wifi sometimes gives a bit of trouble but most of the time works just fine

Fees :

14765$ for 1 year (2 semester)

Scholarship :

No

Faculty :

There are around 20 student per professor in the field of finance, most of them having doctorate in their particular field, they sometimes fail to connect to the student and rather works as machine hence not much to learn from their own experiences

Hostel :

Most of the international students rent out a condo, apartment or house to live with their friends at their own ease like I am doing, I am living in the apartment with friends and this apartment has 3 bedrooms with 6 people living in it due to which rent per person is around 300$ a month excluding wifi insurance and grocery as this will depend on individual. But houses here are very good to live off with everything nearby
